Cup Draw

The NCU recently completed the draw for the Cup competitions for the upcoming 2008 season, the draw for our teams is as follows;

In the Junior Cup (pictured right) the 1st XI will renew their rivalry with BISC with the match taking place at their ground on 3rd May. Irish Cup Final weekend, usually a busy weekend for us Glenmen! Cup competitions have not been kind for Watt as a skipper as he still seeks his first cup win as a skipper.

The 2nd XI received a bye in the first round and will face a tough test against a Templepatrick 2nd XI on 24th May at Gibson Park. A tough test? certainly, but skipper Phil Thompson believes the boys will be ready, of course Phil has been under pressure before, during one of the worst run of results EVER experienced by a 2nd XI captain at Cregagh, he received the dreaded backing of the board but held onto the position.

The 3rd XI who are now unbeaten for the last two seasons in the Minor Qualifying Cup will put their record on the line when they face Dunmurry 3rd XI at Gibson Park on 10th May. Cregagh and Dunmurry will be the only teams taking part in the 1st round! with all the other teams receiving byes! The boys will have to defend the trophy the hard way, the Cregagh way! However, 3rd XI skipper Brian will lead his team into the breach once more with a blend of young and 'not so young' players.

Good luck to all the Cregagh teams.

Hungary 4 Cricket!!

Not exactly the best kept secret in the club, but for anyone who has been living under a rock for the last three months, this might be new to you!!

Thompson Dawson will once again Skipper a Cregagh team in Europe, this time we are heading to Hungary. TD will put his 100% Cregagh record on the line to lead his charges into Europe once again to take on the Hungarian national team!!!! or so he says.

We depart from Dublin airport on Friday 20th June no doubt at some ungodly hour, (weekend after Father's Day! cheers TD) and we hope to return on Monday 23rd June. Hotel room lottery is already set and tongues are wagging already, is there a chance that the love buddies might not share a room! I'm sure TD and Davie Mac can come up with other ideas to make sure we don't get bored during the 4 hour flight!

More information regarding our destination can be found at which should whet your appetite!

Contact TD should you wish to register your interest, I can confirm that we have 17 people fully paid already.

The return of Murderball

Thats right, its back!

The return of murderball is set for 21st November between 8 pm and 9 pm at Ballymacarret Leisure Centre (same place as last year) and it will cost £2.50 per skull per night to kick your fellow cricket member. The photo above is just a taste of things to come, although saying that Maccers is now at University!!

Murderball will run until the indoor nets start in March 2008.

A lot of talk from the likes of Jonny English, Davy Harris and TD of maybe coming along for a kickabout, so lets see who turns up, we might even have a professional footballer in our midst (g-force!!!!! no only joking its Aaron).
