Cregagh batted first and after the loss of a couple of early wickets out two most experienced players James Harper and Aaron Johnston then set about a brilliant partnership of 66. Both lads batted beautifully hitting 4's to all parts of the ground, while still taking their singles when available.
Back Row (L-R) Sam Leeson, Niall Burton Joel Pension Aaron Johnston James Harper Chrissie McKee Ross White
Front Row (L-R) James Hume, Adam McCormick Lewis Cunningham Stuart Nelson Mark Lowry (12th man)
Skipper Johnston was out in the 16th over for a well made 27 leaving young Harper to do the rest with some well timed shots through the covers and mid wicket. Wickets tumbled towards the end as the lads and ladies chased late runs. At the end of the 20 overs we had reached 100 for 7, with James Harper on a magical 60 not out and Joel Pension chipping with a valuable 8 NO.
The CSN innings started in stunning fashion, stunning that is for Cregagh. Sam Leeson claimed his first ever competitive wicket in his first over thanks to a simply brilliant catch by Lewis Cunningham at mid off. Lewis's catch set the tempo for the rest of his team mates and anything that was hit in the air was OUT.
Aaron Johnston took a great catch at extra cover, James Harper took a 'steepler" on the boundary and Niall Burtons' catch diving full length to remove danger man Beverland was good enough for TV. The fielding was matched equally by the teams bowling and everyone chipped in with either a wicket or a couple of maidens. Sam Leeson finished with 3 for 5, Joel Pension and Adam McCormick both with 1 for 6 off three overs a piece and 'paceman' Stuart Nelson with 1 for 18. A couple of run outs for Sam Leeson and Adam McCormick finished off the innings nicely CSN all out for 46.A fantastic team performance by all, Ross White is proving to be a real find behind the stumps and James Hume and Chrissy McKee's fielding was top drawer, but its unfair to single out just a few, the whole team were fantastic.
I thought our first ever victory over Portadown last year was magical, this one topped that.Well done everyone, you should all be very proud of yourselves. Thanks also to all the parents who made the worth while journey. I have never seen so many proud happy faces at the end.
