The Under 15s made it three league wins in a row with a 5 wicket defeat of CSNI at Stormont on Thursday 2/7 in a high scoring game.
After losing the toss skipper Matthew Simpson and his team were asked to field with the game being played on the back square with short boundaries on all sides and a very fast outfield.
Not surprisingly all of the Cregagh bowlers found it difficult to keep the runs down as edges and mishits went for easy runs however this was not helped but some poorly directed bowling and lack lustre fielding.
After using 6 bowlers the CSNI total ended with an imposing 165 for 3 off their 20 overs with the wicket takers being Stephen Nixon,Neil Adams and James Taylor.
As in the two previous victories the batsman then pulled the team out of a hole as they went after the victory target with great skill and judgement.Openers Matthew Simpson and Neil Adams added 88 for the first wicket with Neil first out in the 11th over for a well crafted 45.
Next in was Haider Masih who kept the momentum going with a quick fire 22 with Simpson continuing to play the captains knock at the other end.
A flurry of wickets then followed as Haider (22),Stephen Nixon,Matthew Simpson (26) and James Taylor all departed trying to keep the run rate up at the required 8 per over.
However a steadying innings from James Harper (plus a considerable number of extras given away by CSNI) saw Cregagh home to 166 for 5 in the at the end of the 19th over.
Another excellent performance by the batsman but a considerable improvement is needed in the field before we complete the league campaign against Saintfield and Instonians.
