Double win weekend

Two good wins at the weekend for the 2nds and the 3rds against Donaghcloney 2nds and Lisburn 4ths.

On Saturday the seconds won by 8 wickets, after putting Cloney into bat on our new mat the skipper then led the way by taking 3 wickets and bowling Cloney out for 82.  Mark Thompson, Bob Moore and Matthew Simpson (bouncers and beamers) took two wickets each with Copey also taking his first wicket of the season.

In reply Cregagh managed to reach the target with Andy Bligh on 34 not out along with Matthew Simpson.  TD's man of the match went to Andy for his tidy work behind the stumps and his batting performance.

On Sunday the 3rds took on Lisburn 4ths and restricted them to 110 with young Olly Fleetham taking 2 wickets for 13 runs.  In reply your James Hume our NCU representative scored 26 runs to ensure the Cregagh made the target with 8 wickets in hand.

Scol's car is OK it managed to miss a number of 6's that came raining down much to the disappointment of his team mates and the 3rd XI skipper who tried his best.  Man of the match was everyone due to the all round high level of performance.  3rds now sit top of the league!!

Cregagh sign Ontong and Moore

Cregagh are delighted to announce that Rodney Ontong and Leon Moore have transferred to Cregagh last night, and both transfers have been approved by the NCU.

Leon joins us from North Down where he was the leading wicket taker for the 2nd XI last season.  The New Zealander all rounder also had successful spells with Holywood where he performed extremely well with bat and ball and will be a real addition to the 1st XI team at Cregagh.

Rodney Ontong has joined from Cooke Collegians and in addition to playing he will also be helping David McCormick with our already successful cricket academy.  Rodney played 1st class cricket with Glamorgan scoring over 15,000 runs and taking 345 wickets.  A qualified coach he was the director of coaching back in his native South Africa and we look forward to working with Rodney.

Good luck to both lads and welcome to Cregagh CC

Lewis takes 6

Lewis Cunningham was handed the man of the match award with his stunning figures of 6 wickets for 13 runs off 4 overs when the under 15s faced Instonians in the Graham Cup on Tuesday night.

Four wickets fell in one over as the Instonian batsman had no answer to his pace bowling.  Well done mate very richly deserved, Instonians were beat by 9 wickets meaning that the under 15's have no defeated two premier league teams after beating Carrick by 10 wickets in the previous round.
