End of Season BBQ

This Sunday the 2nds will be at home and as it will be the last home game of the season at Cregagh we will be holding a BBQ after the game.  The bar is also open and will be showing the football so why not come down and finish the season off in style.  See you all there.

Under 11s defeated in final

It wasnt to be for the Under 11s as they lost by 43 runs against a strong Armagh side.  Armagh batted very well hitting some excellent shots against a strong Cregagh bowling attack, who had taken 2 wickets in the first over of the game thanks to Andrew Nelson.

Cregagh were eventually set 114 to win the cup and fell 43 runs short.  Hard luck boys, keep working hard and we have the makings of a very good side.

Under 9s Academy Presentation Night

Last night we brought our Under 9s to a close with a BBQ and presentation night.  After 14 weeks and starting this venture up from scratch Id like to thank the Parents and Players who all came along and made it such a success.  Also a special thanks to Ben and Andrew for running the BBQ last night.

I couldn't have done it without my wing man Tony Henry and our young up and coming coaches, Mark Johnston, Adam McCormick and James Hume.  Thanks for helping out lads as the nights became more and more popular we needed all the help we could get.  Also like to thank David McCormick our Youth Cricket Director for his help and sponsorship not to mention the photos.

We will be back next year and aim to run right through the summer again so keep an eye out on the website, facebook and twitter.  We will also write out to everyone once the new season starts in May!!

See you all then and have a good winter.

Under 11's triumph in Semi Final against Templepatrick

The Under 11's season looks to be lasting a little bit longer after defeating Templepatrick last night and will now play Armagh in the final.  Arrangements for the final are still to be confirmed and will appear on the website once the NCU have confirmed the details.

Under 11s
To say the odds were stacked against us would be an understatement.  We only had 10 players following a number injuries and were playing Templepatrick at their ground.  However this didn't deter the lads.

Batting first Cregagh made 64 runs losing only 2 wickets, with Andrew Nelson starring with the bat making 41 not out carrying his bat through the innings.  The cricket 'pundits' on the sidelines seemed happy enough with 64 and it seemed to be a par score for the lads, especially against some very good bowling from Templepatrick.

Cregagh then took to the field and within the first 3 overs had taken out both openers thanks to that man again Andrew Nelson.  Cregagh kept chipping away at Templepatrick however the middle order for the home side was strong and was edging them closer to the target.  However, the bowling of 6 year old Daniel Henry was going to have an impact on this game as Daniel accounted for two of the middle order batsmen.

Andrew Nelson then returned to the attack.  The home side were on top and the total looked within their reach however they didn't count on a Roy of the Rovers type performance from Andrew Nelson who took another 2 wickets, (one a great caught and bowled) and the game turned in the space of two overs back in our favour.

With 7 needed from 12 balls young Daniel had the ball in his hand and this time took his 3rd wicket of the night and Templepatrick's last batsman to see Cregagh over the line and to win the game by 7 runs.

Great performance from the lads who can now look forward to a final.

Man of the Match

Had to be shared between Andrew Nelson and Daniel Henry.  Andrew led the team from the front with bat and ball what a performance from the skipper.  Daniel Henry with 3 wickets at the age of 6 must be Cregagh's all time youngest ever wicket taker.

Men of the Match!!

Weekend Games

Adam McCormickings
Mixed bag at the weekend, started on Friday night with the under 15s losing against Instonians by 30 runs chasing 177.  Mark Johnston top scored with a great knock of 74 and was supported by Adam McCormick with 45.

The 1st XI travelled to Academy on Saturday and lost by 3 wickets in a tight match that again went to the wire.  The highlight was Adam McCormick hitting his highest score for the 1s with a brilliant 35.

The 2nd XI on Saturday were at home to Cooke Collegians and won by 22 runs with a man of the match performance from Bob Moore as he hit a cracking 89.  Well done Bob.
Oliver Fleethamings
The 3rd XI wrapped up the weekend by beating Muckamore 4ths on Sunday by 8 wickets and once again the run machine Mark Johnston was at it again with an 88 not out this time and young Oliver Fleetham backing up his quickfire 26 on Saturday with the 2nds with a 30 not out this time with the 3rds.

Well done lads, great to see all the young lads scoring big runs!!!  Not only that, Adam McCormick batted and scored his runs with a dislocated finger!!  Not surprising really no one would expect anything else from a McCormick a super human effort well done fingers!!
